Description: This drawing depicts the diverse dynamics occurring in the developing hypothalamus of a newborn mouse. This is a snapshot near the 3rd ventricle (black) where radial glia (dark green) extend processes into the parenchyma and newborn astrocytes (light green) travel along them to reach their final destinations. Simultaneously, debris from dying neurons (purple/blue) is being cleared by microglia (magenta) through phagocytosis. Cell birth and death coexist and are both vital to normal brain development. Medium: digital art drawn using ProCreate app.
