Eligibility
- The NeuroArt® Image Contest is open to individuals 18 years of age or older who have an interest in neuroscience.
- Use of MBF Bioscience products is not required to participate.
- Images that have won previous competitions are not eligible for submission.
Eligible Submissions
4. Submitted images may include, but are not limited to:

- 2D or 3D images obtained using microscopy techniques such as brightfield, widefield, structured illumination, confocal, electron microscopy, slide scanning, and light sheet microscopy
- fMRI images
- 3D brain reconstructions
- Paintings or drawings of the brain or neurons
Contest Structure
5. The NeuroArt® Image Contest includes monthly contests and an annual grand prize competition.
6. Participants who submit images to the monthly contest are automatically entered into the annual contest.
7. Participants may submit up to three (3) images per month.
8. Images must be submitted by the last day of each month. Monthly winners will be announced during the first week of the following month.
9. Annual grand prize winners will be announced between mid-February and March of the following year.
10. No purchase is required to enter or win the NeuroArt® Image Contest.
Judging
11. Entries will be evaluated based on originality and creative content, technical proficiency, and artistic and visual impact.
- Two winners are selected each month:
-
- People’s Choice – The image receiving the highest number of votes from the public
- Juror’s Choice – The image selected by a judging panel of scientists and artists
- Monthly contests will be held only if at least four (4) images are submitted during the month. If fewer than four images are received, submissions will automatically roll over to the following month’s contest.
- Each participant may win a maximum of three monthly prizes per calendar year.
- The judging panel is selected by MBF Bioscience and consists of scientists and artists. All judging decisions are final.
Image Usage Rights
16. By entering the contest, participants grant MBF Bioscience a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to use submitted images in any form of media, including websites, publications, marketing materials, and social media, without additional compensation or notification.
Entrants retain copyright ownership of their images, and appropriate credit will be given to the author whenever the image is used.

- Brief description of the image
- Technique used
- Contact information
Prizes
Monthly Winners
Each month, two winners will be selected:
-
- Juror’s Choice – Selected by a panel of judges
- People’s Choice – Determined by public voting
Each monthly winner will receive either:
-
- $250 toward the purchase of MBF Bioscience software
or - A free 3D printed neuron
- $250 toward the purchase of MBF Bioscience software
Jurors reserve the right not to award a monthly prize if no submissions meet the required quality standards.
Annual Grand Prize Winners
At the end of each year, three grand prize winners will be selected from all eligible submissions.

- 2nd Place: $2,000 toward an MBF Bioscience software purchase
- 3rd Place: $1,000 toward an MBF Bioscience software purchase
