August Image Contest

Description: This image, captured using a 20x objective on an epifluorescence microscope, shows SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells (ATCC CRL-2266) cultured in LS+ATRA medium and stained with anti-tubulin (green) and Hoechst (blue) to highlight cytoskeleton and nuclei. The original image was mirrored, inverted, and recolored to disrupt the viewer’s expectations - transforming green into pink lights and blue into warm orange hues. This visual reinterpretation invites us to see the neuronal world as our own and reminds us that what we observe is always filtered trough interpretation. Sometimes, flipping a perspective is what brings clarity.
