Description: This image is of perineuronal nets (magenta) surrounding parvalbumin cells (green) in the mouse cerebellar nuclei. The red is our chemogenetic receptor from the DREADDs (Designer Receptors Exclusively Activated by Designer Drugs) manipulation. This study examined the impact of learning and DREADD manipulations on perineuronal net intensity. Manipulating perineuronal nets can change plasticity in the brain and is important in a variety of neurodevelopment and neuropsychiatric disorders. The results of this study were published in Lyle and Verpeut, JNeuro 2025. This image was not used in the publication. The image was taken on an Olympus FV4000 confocal at 63x.
