Description: This image of hippocampal pyramidal neurons in CA1 region was taken by Zeiss Confocal Microscope under 40x magnification (digital zoom x2). It shows NF200 (yellow channel) depicting mainly neuronal processes and to some extent neuronal bodies and adenosine receptor A1 (blue channel(which is abundantly expressed in hippocampal neurons and synapses (observe the punctiform staining representing probably synaptic contacts between CA1-CA1 or CA1-CA3 neurons). This is a hippocampus of male Wistar rats and immunofluorescence staining was performed on frozen sections. It reminded me on some for of a nest, where NF200 filament surrounds A1R signal hence the title ENTHER THE HIPPOCAMPUS (alluding to Bruce Lee movie Enter the Dragon 1973)
